Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the U.S. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay

📣 Attention Carthage community! 🌞🍽️ We're excited to announce the Summer Meal Program, hosted at Libby Elementary! 🏫🥪 We understand the importance of providing nutritious meals for children during the summer break. That's why we're offering meals at no cost to children in the Carthage community, up to age 18, or up to age 21 with a disability. 🍎🥗 Join us from Monday to Thursday, June 5 to July 20, for a delicious and healthy breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m., and a scrumptious lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 🍳🥪 Please note that there will be no meals served on July 4, due to the holiday. 🎆🇺🇸 Let's ensure that every child in our community has access to nutritious meals throughout the summer. Libby Elementary would like to recognize April’s Star Students! Asher Larson is a second-grader and the son of Bradly and Amy Larson. His favorite school subject is Reading. Asher enjoys swimming, playing soccer, and playing on his tablet. Antonny Suruy is a third-grader and the son of Federico Suruy and Yessica Garcia. His favorite school subject is Reading. Antonny enjoys playing soccer, reading books, and playing outside. Brayden Walls is a third-grader and the son of Olivia Sanders. His favorite school subject is Science. Brayden enjoys playing XBOX, drawing, and reading books. Sophia Martinez is a third-grader and the daughter Rodolfo Martinez and Ruth Rodriguez Martinez. Her favorite school subject is Math. Sophia enjoys playing soccer, drawing, traveling, and trying new foods. Madi Sanders is a third-grader and the daughter of Brandon and Ashley Sanders. Her favorite school subject is Reading. Madi’s hobbies include playing basketball, collecting things, make-up, singing, and dancing. Bryleigh Tatum is a second-grader and the daughter of Tre’Keisha Hicks. Her favorite school subject is Math. Bryleigh enjoys dancing and coloring. Zion Marshall is a second-grader and the daughter of Cliffton and Mieshi Marshall. Her favorite school subject is Science. Zion enjoys playing with friends, riding her bike, and reading. Levi Johnson is a second-grader and the son of Bruce and Darcy Johnson. His favorite school subject is P.E. - DODGEBALL!! But also loves his time in Mrs. Duckworth’s class. Levi’s hobbies include basketball, rodeo, and working cows with his dad. Brystol’s hobbies include riding her bike, coloring, and playing volleyball. Kielynn Hartley is a second-grader and the daughter of Mary Copeland. Her favorite school subject is Math. Kielynn’s hobbies include playing with her nieces, coloring, jumping on the trampoline, and playing with her dolls. Tracee Parker is a second-grader and the son of Randee Kubish.
