Carthage High School seniors followed the decades-old senior tradition of swimming across a small pond on campus Wednesday afternoon.
The tradition dates back to the 1980s. The first swim wasnāt sanctioned by the school, but itās turned into an annual tradition of coordinated costumes and ridiculously-giant flotation devices, and for this year, at least one kayak. This year's event also had a pre-swim water balloon fight in the parking lot.
After everyone swam across the pond in small groups, all of the swimmers jumped in together to swim back across the pond.
Carthage High School will host its graduation for the Class of 2023 at 8 p.m. Friday at Bulldog Stadium.
