Carthage High School is proud to announce that four talented band students have been selected for the prestigious Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) All-State Symphonic Band following auditions held Saturday in Henderson. This achievement marks a new school record for Carthage High School, surpassing the previous milestone of three All-State selections in 2008.
The students selected for this distinguished honor are:
Clayton Elliott ā French Horn
Lauren Brown ā Flute
Caroline Sheffield ā Clarinet
Abraham Santana ā Trumpet
Additionally, Landon Hodges was named as a first alternate in percussion.
Elliott, Brown, Sheffield and Santana will participate in an intensive clinic in San Antonio during the annual Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) convention. Their hard work and dedication will culminate in a concert performance at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, at the Lila Cockrell Theatre.
āThis record-breaking achievement is a testament to the dedication and skill of our students and the guidance of our outstanding band director team,ā said Director of Bands Johnnie Cotton. āWe are incredibly proud of Clayton, Lauren, Caroline, Abraham, and Landon for representing Carthage High School at the highest level.ā
The Carthage ISD community extends its congratulations to these outstanding musicians and looks forward to celebrating their accomplishments at the TMEA convention.
