Carthage High School Assistant Principal Brad Milam

Carthage High School is excited to announce the appointment of Brad Milam as the new assistant principal. A proud Bulldog alumnus, Mr. Milam brings nearly three decades of educational experience and leadership to his new role.

Mr. Milam graduated from CHS in 1990 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in physics and Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a certified physics teacher and holds an EC-12 principal certification.

“Me and my wife Kerry are thrilled to be back in Panola County serving the Carthage ISD community,” said Milam. “Everything I am today can be traced back to the life lived, lessons learned and relationships formed growing up in Panola County and graduating from Carthage High School. In the 29 years of serving students all over the state, I hope I left a little bit of Bulldog in each area I lived. Carthage is the best place on earth to live and grow, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Mr. Milam's extensive career in education includes roles as both a teacher and administrator across several districts in Texas. He began his career in 1995 as a physics, math, and integrated physics and chemistry (IPC) teacher, as well as a football coach at Beckville High School. He continued to teach and coach at various high schools across the state, including Akins High School in Austin, Elkins High School in Missouri City, East Central High School in San Antonio, and Conroe High School. He also coached a few years at his collegiate alma mater, SFA.

In 2011, Mr. Milam transitioned into administration, serving as the athletic director and head football coach at Splendora ISD. He then became the assistant principal at Splendora Junior High before moving to Conroe ISD, where he’s served since 2015 as an assistant principal and associate principal at Caney Creek High School. During his time at Caney Creek High School, Mr. Milam was responsible for overseeing various departments, coordinating booster clubs, activities, and transportation logistics, as well as serving as the instructional leader for multiple subjects.

Mr. Milam's leadership experience also includes serving as the summer school principal for Conroe ISD and participating in the district's “Roadmap to Reopening” committee, where he played a crucial role in planning and implementing strategies for online and in-person learning during the pandemic.

"We are excited to welcome Brad Milam back home to Carthage High School," said Carthage High School Principal Justin Smith. "His deep roots in our community, combined with his extensive experience and passion for education, make him an ideal fit for this role. We are confident that Mr. Milam's leadership will greatly benefit our students, staff, and the entire CHS community."

Mr. Milam has been married to his wife, Kerry, for 29 years and they have two adult daughters, Becca and Natalie, who are both graduates of Texas A&M University.

Milam replaces Mr. Chris Stacy who retired from Carthage ISD this year.
